He wanted to go anyway so we might as well go together.

[Just a jolly jaunt through the woods with his would-be murderer. What could go wrong?]

[Okay maybe he could have found a better way to break this news.

He starts to explain, then remembers something important. If Akechi doesn't remember everything, maybe Yusuke doesn't either.]

Do you remember Shido's ship?

That's one of the reasons why I'm confused. [That was the last time seeing Akechi. While that doesn't guarantee what happened to him, nevertheless Yusuke's rather shaken that he's here and going to be coming with them or something? That and, in addition--]

[In his room (what can be called a room, anyway), Akira sighs to himself and leans back a moment before he continues.]

I don't know what's going on, but Akechi is alive, and as far as I can tell he doesn't remember he died, or even that he tried to kill me. I referred to him as a member of the team and he didn't so much as flinch.

[It's unsettling, to say the least.]

I don't think he's lying. I think he thinks we were still trying to take Niijima-san's treasure.

[What... what? He doesn't remember? Yusuke slumps back in his own seat in his room, pressing his hands over his face.]

How is such a thing possible...?

He truly doesn't seem like he's lying?

I'm not sure. I've met a dead girl here but she knew she was dead, so I don't think it's amnesia.

I met a time traveler, too.

[So maybe there are time shenanigans involved... which boggles his mind.]

I admit I'm not always the best at catching his lies but I'm pretty sure he's not acting, not about this anyway.

[He's always acting in general, but...]

[God that is weird. Yusuke's palming his face out of the sudden onset of stress.]

What shall be the best way to proceed, then? I will defer to your judgement and plans.

[He knows this is weird, Yusuke, but it's better than letting him know and potentially having him murder them.]

For now, just pretend we don't know any of that either. As far as you or I are concerned, Akechi is the Ace Detective who doesn't really approve of us, but is helping us out for the sake of Niijima-san.

I'm worried that if he finds out he died, or I evaded his plan, he'll just try to hurt us or someone else. This way, he keeps up his pleasant front and everything will be okay.

So, for the moment, keep him preoccupied with maintaining his pleasant front and give him no reason to let it slip or lash out at others.

[All right. That's a reasonable plan, and it makes him feel solid to have something to keep in mind. Dealing with... someone here who is not supposed to be here is going to be a thing either way, though... But he must maintain his composure.]

[He knows it's not the most foolproof plan there is, but it's better than nothing. It's probably their only option, right now.]

Hopefully we won't be here for long. We need to get back to the others.

I admit I wish I could do something for this place, however, before we leave.
